Gerflor Takes Centre Stage at Parliament House

Gerflor made politicians and guests see red when they gathered in the Great Hall at Parliament House in Canberra for the official opening of the fourth Hyundai Bennelong Cup.

Far from an embarrassment however, Gerflor was on hand to provide international playing conditions for members of Australia’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games Table Tennis Team who took on professional players from Korea, China and Japan in the curtain raiser to the tournament.

Event founder and former tennis great and Member for Bennelong, John Alexander OAM said Gerflor’s participation had raised the status of the event.

“We would especially like to thank Gerflor for providing the surface that the players are playing on. Not only does it look beautiful and stages the event at a higher level than previously but it’s also excellent for the players to move on,” Mr Alexander said.

Chief Executive Officer of Table Tennis Australia, Peter Marriott welcomed Gerflor’s support and synergies with the event.

“Gerflor is internationally recognised as the surface of choice for table tennis and we are thrilled to be able to provide the ultimate playing conditions for our competitors,” Mr. Marriott said.

“The Bennelong Cup is more than just a sporting event; it is an example of how we can transcend cultural barriers through a shared interest, in this case table tennis,” he said.
