Gerflor Wins Favour With Futsal

Futsal Oz has elevated its Mt Evelyn stadium to international standards with the installation of Gerflor playing surface.

About 2700 square metres of Taraflex Multi-Use 6.2 flooring in a Wood Blue design was installed as part of a major refurbishment of the codes home in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Founder and CEO of Futsal Oz, Peter Parthimos said feedback from players and spectators had been very positive.

“The players love it and the surface means the ball moves around smoothly so it improves the quality of the game,” Peter Parthimos said.

Cheaper flooring options are readily available but, following his experience with Gerflor at his Brunswick facility, Peter Parthimos opted for Gerflor again.

“Its reliable, durable and a good surface that is ideal for futsal,” he said.

Futsal is the official FIFA version of indoor soccer and the only internationally recognised small sided game. According to Peter Parthimos, the game is growing rapidly in Australia, particularly at the grass roots level.

Using a special low bounce ball, players develop skills, sharpen their reflexes and improve their decision-making under pressure. With a 4 second restart rule, small playing area and unlimited substitutions the game offers non-stop action and significantly increases a player’s speed of play.
